Summary of Job Duties:
Work with customer and sales account managers to grow business. Semiconductor Components emphasizes RF power amplifier design, and also includes mixers, switches, converters and/or modulators with their associated application circuits. Field Applications Engineering works closely with marketing and design engineering to understand market requirements and customer specifications that can be met using WJ semiconductor products. Work with developments groups and marketing during the complete product development cycle to ensure the product meets marketing/customer requirements. Provide the appropriate training, datasheets, reference designs, custom designs, and application notes needed for a successful product launch.
Specific Job Duties:
- Be the primary technical interface between customers and the WJ factory. Advise on the performance evaluation of WJ devices and recommend particular devices for an application. Design and ship engineering demos to customer. Determine customer requirements for specific parameters.
- Creation and updating of written materials that provide technical information with products to customers and sales staff.
- Work with worldwide sales staff and customers to generate new design wins.
- Develop reference designs for customer evaluation of semiconductor components.
- Design and review customers schematics, layouts and data of the WJ portion on a customers application
- Data analysis of performance characterization of RF amplifiers, mixers and other RF components
- Extensive computer simulations and bench work to develop and test reference designs.
- Travel of up to 30% may be required.
Minimum Qualifications Required (per RADFORD JOB DESCRIPTION):
- BSEE with emphasis of RF and microwave design. MSEE preferred. Specialization of study should include RF, microwave, and analog circuit design and system analysis.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant RF circuit design experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Highly organized to handle multiple projects at once.
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with circuit simulations and design. Experience with Ads, MWO desired.
- Familiarly with basic radio architectures, system configurations and requirements
- Proficiency in MS Office software.
- Lab experience using complex RF test equipment, soldering and prototype construction.
Skills and/or Training Desired:
Microwave measurements, troubleshooting, surface mount and hybrid assembly techniques. PC skills.
